As part of the global Olympic Torch Relay in the run up to the Beijing Olympic Games, London welcomed the Olympic Flame on Sunday April 6, 2008.
From Wembley to Greenwich the torch traveled through ten London boroughs. Entertainment and local events marked its arrival in each borough thus making London colorful and vibrant.
At a grand finale at the Arena at North Greenwich the Torch Relay in London ends with the arrival of the final torchbearer and the lighting of the Olympic Cauldron.
80 Torchbearers carried the Olympic flame through London including double Olympic gold medal winner Dame Kelly Holmes and England cricketer Kevin Pieterson.
