Attractions - Changing of the Guard
Changing of the Guard is the Royal ceremony at Buckingham Palace which takes place at 11.30 a.m., and lasts for 40 minutes inside the Palace railings. Accompanied by a band, the Queen’s Guard leaves Wellington Barracks and marches via Birdcage Walk to the Palace. Only in case of very wet weather is the ceremony skipped. At Victoria, St. James Park and Green Park are the nearest Underground stations. Near Horse Guards Parade, Whitehall, a separate ceremony takes place daily at 11 a.m., Monday through Saturday, and 1 p.m. on Sunday. To reach Whitehall, the Queen’s Life Guard leaves Hyde Park Barracks and rides to Horse Guard Parades via Hyde Park Corner, Constitution Hall and The Mall. Embankment, Charing Cross, and Westminster are the nearest Underground stations.
