Attractions - Houses of Parliament
This majestic structure constructed between 1675 and 1710 stands on the site of two previous cathedrals dating to 604. Within the dome whisper can be heard anywhere by pressing an ear to the wall. That is why the gallery in the main dome has been named whispering gallery. The building is open to visitors each summer and visits are by guided tour starting at Victoria Tower proceeding through the Robin Room, Royal Gallery, Chambers of the House of Lords and House of Commons, Central Lobby, St. Stephen’s Chapel and Westminster Hall. The Parliamentary gift shop can be visited free of charge via the St. Stephen’s entrance and Westminster, with an exhibition of cartoons.
