Bridges - Southwark Bridge
Southwark Bridge was built in 1814 by John Rennie’s following the formation of The Southwark Bridge Company. It featured a huge central span of over 220 feet vaunted cast iron. Until 1912, the elegantly designed with granite piers bridge stood when Mott & Hay replaced it with a five span steel bridge. It is flanked on either side by Blackfriars and London Bridge linking Cannon Street and The City to Bankside.
