The Museum in Docklands is one of the newest museums in London and provides an insight to the history of London’s river, port and people of the 19th century. It was initially used to store the imported spices, rum and cotton. Today, it is home to a variety of valuable objects like large whale bones to gas masks of World War II, thus giving an understanding of the lost ancient world.
It also narrates the history of various people like the Romans, Vikings, pirates, city-workers and others who had visited the Docks over the 2000 years. Children can spend their time in Mudlarks Gallery which provides ample of space where children in between the age group of 5 to 12 can learn about the history of Docklands. In the foreshore discovery box, children enjoy the water activities from diver’s point of view and discover various archaeological findings.
It is located at No. 1 Warehouse West India Quay and can be traveled by DLR to West India Quay. The admission fee for adults is £5 and can also enjoy the concession £3. The admission for children is for free.
