St. James’s Park is adjacent to the Green Park where visitors can enjoy on Sundays when they are closed to traffic. Originally built on the site of a lepers’ hospital is the St. James’s Palace which is inside the park. According to history, Charles I decided to spend his last night there just before his execution. Being home to Duke and Duchess of Kent as well as offices for various other royals, visitors are not allowed to go inside apart from Chapel Royal that is open for services only. Visitors can see the majesty of the Big Ben, Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey from the Parliament Square which is a short walk from the Palace.
