Commonly called the ‘tube’ by Londoners, the London Underground is one of the quickest and the easiest way to get around in the city. Designed by Harry Beck in the year 1933, London is served by 12 tube lines with Docklands Light Railway and inter-connected local train network. Bakerloo line, Central line, Circle line, District line, Hammersmith & City line, Jubilee line, Metropolitan line, Northern line, Piccadilly line, Victoria line, and Waterloo & City line are the main 11 tube-lines of London and the East London Line which is the 12th will be converted to London Overground by 2010. Trains generally operate between 4:30 am and 1:30 pm and connect over more than 268 stations in London.
